Statue of Our Lady of Lourdes

The Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes commemorates the apparition of Jesus' Mother Mary to a peasant girl, Bernadette Soubirous, near Lourdes, France, in 1858. The window on your left illustrates the Angel Gabriel announcing to Mary her vocation as Mother of the Savior. Symbols of Mary surround the chapel. The kneeler was used by Pope John Paul II when he prayed in this chapel. An inscription on the wall to the left commemorates that occasion.
