Detail of St. Luke Altar

Just opposite the Lady Chapel is an altar dedicated to St. Luke the Evangelist, called by Saint Paul "dear and glorious physician." The physicians of the Archdiocese donated it in memory of their deceased colleagues. Its carvings recall saints associated with healing or with specific illnesses.
